What Makes Us Happy . . .

By

It’s not what you think.  The Harvard Study of Adult Development is the longest study of adult life that’s ever been done.  It has tracked the lives of 724 men over 75 years and what the researchers found was that wealth, the accumulation of assets, hard work or climbing the corporate ladder does not bring happiness.  What brings happiness is relationships and not just any relationships, but certain kinds of relationships.

This is similar to how we at Legacy Trust, view our clients.  Not as a number or as an account, not as an accumulation of assets under management, and not as a means to an end.  We strive for personal relationships with our clients and to be connected to their dreams, fears, hopes and desires.  It is through this intimacy that we, together, can build lasting legacies and happiness.

In this Ted Talks, Robert Waldinger, Director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development, explains the findings and the study and how we can lead a happy life.
